marra.tein is an initiative that aims to encourage innovative thought and dialogue by hosting researchers & artists at a dedicated residency space in central beirut.

marra.tein was founded by george awde and jared mccormick in 2012.  our mission is to provide a space - part residency/part homebase - to encourage independent projects, formal research, partnerships with local institutions, and open interpretations to engagement and practice in lebanon. marra.tein is centrally located in a 1940’s building in rmeil/geitawi and was redesigned by haig papazian in 2011 with the help and advice of local architects and friends.

currently, there is not an open call for submissions and residencies are by nomination or developed in conversation with local partners -- that being said, individuals and initiatives from within the region are encouraged to reach out to discuss possible options for collaboration.
